Nestled in Wadebridge, Cornwall House is a stunning new build featuring windows for coastal homes, with a contemporary design that accentuates its coastal charm. Designed by Joan Kinnane, this residence required our bespoke glazing solutions.

The Challenge

Building in a coastal environment presents unique challenges. The homeowners desired expansive windows that would maximise natural light and capture the breathtaking views of the Cornish coastline. However, the glazing needed to withstand harsh coastal conditions, including salt spray, high winds and increased corrosion risk. The goal was to install windows for coastal homes that offered beauty and exceptional durability.

Our Solution

Sieger Systems was happy to provide high-performance glazing solutions ideal for coastal homes. Collaborating closely with the architect, we supplied:

Sieger Casement Windows: These windows are perfect for coastal homes due to their robust construction and sleek design. Finished in marine-grade RAL 7026, they are specifically treated to resist corrosion from salt and moisture. The windows feature adhered glazing bars, adding a subtle traditional touch that complements the contemporary design. Black ironmongery and restrictors on selected windows were included for safety and aesthetic consistency.

Sieger Legacy Doors: To enhance indoor-outdoor living (a key aspect of coastal homes) we installed outward-opening Sieger Legacy Doors. These doors, also finished in marine-grade RAL 7026, are designed to withstand the coastal elements while offering seamless access to outdoor spaces. Standard black handles and glazing bars were incorporated to maintain a cohesive look with the windows.

Structural Support and Finishing: We provided steel supports between the door bays, including insulation and pressings, ensuring structural integrity and thermal efficiency – crucial for windows in coastal homes. Standard cills and slot aeration were integrated to allow controlled ventilation without compromising the minimalist aesthetic.

Implementation

Understanding the importance of precision and coordination, our team worked diligently to align with the construction schedule:

Logistics and Site Coordination: With good access to the site, we organised HI-AB and flatbed deliveries suitable for transporting large glazing units for coastal homes. Lifting equipment and towers were utilised to facilitate safe installation. Stayovers were arranged for our team to ensure uninterrupted progress, accounting for warehouse loading time and on-site logistics.

Collaboration with Stakeholders: Continuous communication with the architect was maintained, through which detailed technical drawings and fixing details were discussed and finalised.
