South London Home

Slim framed aluminium glazing installation to a family home renovation

The homeowners of this semi-detached home were seeking a larger living space for their expanding family but didn’t want to move from the family home they have lived in since the 90’s. Throughout the years the family has gradually grown but the home had remained the same, therefore a vast re-modelling and extension of the property was on the cards.

The family felt that the property was suffering from a poor connection to their generous garden and the internal rooms were cramped and disconnected, therefore Granit Architects were appointed to address these constraints and provide them with a beautifully designed solution.

During this renovation, the rear ground floor rooms were opened up to create one large kitchen / dining and living space which flowed through into the garden through elegant Sieger® Slim Sliding Doors. The three-track slim framed sliding glass doors featured one fixed pane and two sliding panes to create a wide opening that allows fresh air to flow throughout the property throughout the year when desired.

Testimonial

The family can now enjoy spending time together in their contemporary ground floor open-plan living space that seamlessly connects to the generous rear garden.

Alongside the Sieger® Slim Sliding Doors, a Sieger® Casement Window arrangement was designed and installed to further increase the light within the property. The aluminium framing was Polyester Powder Coated (PPC) in a black RAL colour to create a contrast between the bright white internal and external walls. To soften these juxtaposing elements, warm-toned slim wooden cladding was installed to specific areas on the external face of the building as well as to the ceiling of the new contemporary kitchen.

The Sieger® Casement Windows were constructed upon an engineered brick plinth, which extended into the dining space resulting in an oversized window cill that can be used as a window seat.

The homeowners can now enjoy spending time with their whole family in the open-plan ground floor living space which seamlessly flows out into the rear garden to create a large indoor-outdoor living area. During the colder months, these spaces can still be thoroughly enjoyed with outstanding views of the outdoor living spaces through the large slim framed sliding doors and casement windows.
