Transforming Stable Barn Renovation with Aluminium Barn Doors

In the heart of Wiltshire’s countryside, Stable Barn at Westfield Farm stands as a historic structure with rustic charm and some of the best aluminium barn doors. The owners wanted to convert the barn into a contemporary living space that preserved its traditional character while adding modern comforts. Their main challenge was to bring in plenty of natural light with aluminium barn doors, and connect the indoor and outdoor spaces with a sympathetic nod to the building’s historic architecture.

To achieve this, advanced glazing solutions were needed which met energy efficiency and wind load resistance requirements. Sieger Systems supplied these bespoke elements, including two-track sliding door systems with attractive aluminium profiles. Six of these aluminium barn doors were crafted for new openings, strategically positioned to maximise natural light and provide easy access to the surrounding landscape.

A key feature of the renovation was the installation of minimal window sliding doors with ultra-slim 21 mm frames. Measuring 3,150 mm wide by 2,000 mm high, these three-track systems offered panoramic views that beautifully complemented the barn’s rustic features. Slot aeration was incorporated to ensure good ventilation without disrupting the minimalist design.

Materials and finishes were carefully selected to harmonise with the barn’s traditional aesthetics. Aluminium frames coated in classic RAL colours complement the existing structure. High-quality materials and engineering ensured the glazing solutions met all performance standards. At the client’s request, trickle vents were omitted from the sliding aluminium barn doors to maintain beautiful, clean lines.

The transformation reconciles the modern design desired by the clients with the building’s historic charm. These expansive glass installations not only enhance the visual appeal but also make the space more functional. It’s now bright and open, and the seamless connection to the outdoors creates a welcoming atmosphere—perfect for relaxing and enjoying the surrounding views.
