A luxury hotel and spa undergoes extensive renovation
Sieger® Aluminium were appointed to design, manufacture and install replacement aluminium casement windows and doors to The Grove in Hertfordshire. The old Amber Suite went through a vast transformation to turn the existing space into a modern function room. This was achieved by replacing the old worn timber window and door frames with contemporary aluminium framing systems.
Slim framed Sieger® casement windows were used to ensure efficient thermal performances were achieved, while the design appearance of the aluminium windows and doors reflected the original aesthetic. Therefore, transom bars were integrated to maintain the traditional door design.
Testimonial
The casement doors installed to the rear of the function space were fabricated and designed as emergency exit doors in single and double door configurations.
These doors can only be opened from the inside which helped to ensure the security of the events space. With no handles or locks needed, a minimal appearance was achieved to preserve the design of the Heritage building.
All the aluminium casement doors were designed with fixed glazing above and to the side of the opening door, to maximise the amount of daylight entering the function space. The slim frames of the casement doors ensure that the maximum amount of light flows through the space, to achieve a light and airy atmosphere.
A bifolding door was installed to further open up the space, maximising the opening where the hotel rooms lead out onto a terrace and patio area. The integrated aluminium transoms into the bifolding doors were designed for a cohesive design, this enabled the bifolding doors to match with the aesthetic of the aluminium windows and doors installed throughout this renovation.
All the aluminium frames of the glazing systems used were finished in RAL 6006, a high gloss white, to replicate the existing white timber frames and satisfy planning regulations on the listed building.
